Abstract

There is a general challenge offered tothefield of engineering economics bythe introduction of advanced technologies. A survey ofexisting literature on total quality management (TQM) implementation in small and medium sizes enterprises (SMEs), indicate that the traditional approaches are inadequate for the purpose. It is very difficult to select the weightage of TQM components for developing the quality awareness in the organization. In this paper, an attempt has been made to overcome the above deficiencies by using an approach of analytical hierarchy process (AHP) for components of TQM in small and medium scale industries of selected segment of India. This AHP based study is capable to select the weightage ofTQM components and provides some research directionsfor future work.
