MODIFICATION OF LONG TRAVEL MECHANISM IN WHARF ELECTRIC CRANE

Abstract

The main objective of this paper is to replace the "Nut and Bolt arrangement into Shaft alignment mechanism" in Wharfelectric cranes in Long Travel Mechanism. It consists ofthe rigid pin arrangement, bolt and nut that are well screwed for perfect alignment of portal cranes with the bogie. Due to these arrangement heavyjerks occurs while travelling, which causes wear and tear. So it increases the maintenance cost. By replacing rigid pin arrangement into flexible pin arrangement we can reduce the vibration induced in the cranes and prevent wear and tear. Thus minimize the maintenance cost of this crane system as well as the efficiency ofthe system.
