Abstract

As the market environment has become dynamic, the product life cycle becomes shortened, the profits has shrinked, market becomes unexpected. The companies have to maintain high product quality for its survival. The need for a method of rapidly, cost effective product development, production facilities and supporting software including design, process planning, shop floor control systems is becoming important. A model has shown in this paper to understand agility, the driving force of agility which are responsible, for a firm to take a action to become agile, criterion to measure a firm's agility and factors to achieve agility has been discussed in this paper. Some gap fulfilling parameters of agile manufacturing have also been explained.
