SIMILARITIES AND DISSIMILARITIES IN TECHNOLOGICAL ADOPTION IN SUPPLY CHAIN INFORMATION SHARING FOR INDIAN MANUFACTURING ORGANIZATIONS

Abstract

The main objective of paper is to explore similarities and dissimilarities of technological adoption issues forinformation sharing (IS) enablement of supply chain (SC)among selected sectors of Indian manufacturing organizations through the formulation and testing of hypotheses. A questionnaire based survey was conducted among four selected sectors, namely, automobile, chemicals, machinery and instruments, and electrical and electronics. The findings of sectorial analysis suggested that selected sectors significantly differ on communication and collaboration technologies, and SC planning and control tools and techniques. Further, it has been observed that the selected sectors do not significantly differ on network technologies and adoption of e-business activities for IS enablement of SC.
