MODIFIED BALANCED SCORECARD FOR EVALUATION OF LEAN IMPLEMENTATION IN ANY INDUSTRY

Abstract

In present scenario, manufacturing world is highly influenced by the capability of a firm to eliminate the non value added activities within firm. Management of elimination of non value added activities in a firm is known as Lean management. Lean implementation is necessary because manufacturing world produces a large amount of products with certain amount of waste and have a great potential of elimination of waste. Review of Lean implementation is necessary because firm should be aware about the advantages offered by the lean implementation. In this paper, evaluation of method of lean implementation is done with concept of Balanced Scorecard. Two new perspectives are added which are influenced by implementation of lean namely environmental perspective & Inventory holding capacity perspective. There are six perspectives in Modified Balanced Scorecard namely Financial, Customer, Internal processes, Learning & growth, Environmental & inventory holding capacity. These factors are elaborated for evaluation of Lean implementation. This research paper is aimed at managers and supervisors of different organizations and researchers working in the field of lean management since they may find useful ideas and concepts in it. These pages certainly contained a great deal of managerial implications along with limitations.
