A STUDY ON THE IMPACT OF ACCREDITATION OF HOSPITALS ON PATIENT'S SATISFACTION-A CASE OF KERALA

Abstract

Many hospitals are undergoing accreditation as mandatory or voluntary measures. Hospitals and health authorities believe that accreditation positively influence quality of care and patient satisfaction. This study aims at assessing the impact of accreditation of hospitals on patient satisfaction. Recommendation rate of hospitals by patients is used as an outcome to measure the satisfaction level. The result support the view that accreditation is not related to assessable better quality of care as perceived by the patient. Accreditation may be consider as a step towards quality improvement, but may not influence the patient's willingness to recommend
