SELECTION AND HIRING OF EMPLOYEES: A CASE STUDY

Abstract

Quality assurance in an academic institution steps in the moment the teachers are recruited. In this paper, a method for such recruitment is proposed fully designed and developed in-house. The proposed method is deployed as a pilot project for a sample size of 243 Assistant Professors from various faculties like Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer, Civil, IT. Agriculture, Plastic and polymer, physics, mathematics, chemistry, communication skill, MCA,MBA, etc. The proposed method comprises of 3 components: on-line test, 50 points, presentation, 30 points and personal interview, 20 points. The scores obtained by the 243 participants are subjected to statistical analysis and inferences are drawn thereof. The process is found to be statistically controlled and a few more suggestions are given how to further improve it. It is believed that the findings of the process developed will be of interest to all concerned.
