Abstract

Selecting a location for setting up a Hazardous facility is a very high-risk process. Nevertheless, minimal work has been carried out in this domain. It’s a decision-making procedure with multiple alternatives and attributes, mainly involving subjective or qualitative information. Due to this linguistic and imprecise data, traditional approaches to this process have failed to handle this problem. To overcome this challenge, we have listed a number of factors influencing hazardous facility location decisions and used a simple ranking method for measuring the influence of each factor on the facility location. To demonstrate the methodology, a practical case study is presented of Indian oil tanking, wherein the rankings of several locations are subject to various criteria & the ranks of those criteria are evaluated in a subjective environment.
