Abstract
The role of supply chain management has been vividly researched in business scenario In past few years this aspect of business is having a vital role in handling disaster relief. This is more so in this pandemic of Covid 19. No doubt the fundamental concepts of coordination, collaboration and information sharing those applied in commercial logistics and SCM are inherent in disaster relief operations, but most of them need to be amended for disaster centric action. The recent crisis of oxygen and its catastrophic consequences has exposed the lack of preparedness and other lacunae in handling crisis of such a magnitude. This paper is an attempt to understand these loopholes and based on current literature an underlying principle to mitigate this type of crisis has been proposed. This study will also recommend few important factors which could be used as bench mark to activate an effective SCM system so that this type of mega crisis to be kept under control.
